(Doesn't he look proud of himself in this picture? Or maybe it's just all the drugs. . .)
So. . .He is either really charming or really grouchy, because he miraculously talked them into letting him come home. (He seems to be pretty adept at pulling off miracles this week.)
We were all surprised to hear the news, but when we asked him about the change of plan, he explained, "They gave me a list of things that had to be done, so I just did them."
There you go.
Anyway, we are all so glad he's back in town!
P.S. . . .A little side note about visitors:
Shawn still has a ways to go in his recovery process, so if you could call before showing up, that would be great! This way, he (or Kelsey, at least) can make sure he's minding his P's and Q's. Also, with all the bugs going around, please, please make sure you don't come if you have any friends of that sort hanging around. He has some respiratory issues that could be a problem if every one's not careful.
Thanks for understanding. . .you know there's not two more social butterflies than Shawn and Kelsey, and they would love to see you all! Let's just keep him on the gettin' well road!
PPS. Yesterday Shawn was telling his sister that he wished he had been able to get his house painted before the accident. These were his next words, "I don't know how steady I'll be on a ladder."
Yip, you read that right.
So, if you happen to be driving by and see him making an attempt at any foolish endeavors, (ie: ladders, planting trees, etc.) PLEASE help us out by making an intervention. Seems he's into checking things off "his list" these days.
We're just thinking that his luck might eventually run out.
WELCOME HOME SHAWN! WE LOVE YOU!

I seriously though to myself last night... Ya..whatever!! Shawn will charm his way right out of that hospital room. Tee..hee. I was right and not surprised. Welcome home!!! Take care of yourselves!!! (I am aware of the bad spelling)
ReplyDeleteWelcome Home Shawn!!!! Hey, let us all know when the painting party is and let's get 'er done!! It can't take that long if we all bring a brush.
ReplyDeleteWe're so happy that you are doing so great!
My son Carson, 5 just asked me why did Shawn want to run into the semi truck, That doesn't seem to be a good idea? And why does he need "pogo" sticks to walk. Glad to hear things are improving. Love Idaho
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I am sure he'll be out in the yard in no time. Kelly thank you for making this & keeping us in the loop. Good work, if you read this, take a break now & then so you don't get pneumonia or mess up your sternum more than it is already. I know from experience those bones never heal right.
ReplyDeleteHey Shawn... it's Kelly's friend Darcie. I was so sorry to hear about your accident, but it's great to see you're making such a fast recovery. I hope you continue to get well quickly. I'll keep you and Kelsey in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteHey, this is great news! I appreciate being invited to view this blog. I got the invitation on my phone. I was at the scene of the accident and called Kelsey. I don't know you guys but you seem like an amazing couple with amazing friends and family. I have to admit I was a pessimist at the scene of the accident. I think I was the first to run to the van and see Shawn. At first he was just moaning and not making any sense. I told him to hold still, that help was coming and I asked him his name. He started coming to and was able to speak. More people came to help and I was overcome with emotion at the willingness of others to stop to help a stranger, even to offer a priesthood blessing, stay with him to hold his neck still and give him comfort. I'd like to share my own little miracle from that day. I was on my way to Logan with my 3 year old girl and 6 month old baby boy for his well check at the pediatrician. I had stopped at Riverside Corner. As I was waiting to get back on the highway. I saw the semi (thePeterbilt) at the 4 way stop and thought "I don't want to have to follow that semi all the way to Logan." Then I thought better of hurrying out in front of it and decided "what's the hurry?" Because of that, I was 4 or 5 vehicles behind the semi. Although its a tragedy for anyone to be involved in an accident, I can't help but think that the Peterbilt was better suited to take the brunt of the van's hit than my Liberty with 2 angels in the backseat. I am so thrilled to hear that Shawn is making such strides! I had my doubts. I was driving to Logan again on Thursday and couldn't help but stop into Riverside Corner again and ask if anyone had heard how you were doing. My eyes filled with tears to hear that you were doing so great. Then I got this blog invite and it's really brought me comfort Thank you for including me in this miracle. May God continue to bless... Stacie
ReplyDeleteShawn!! You sure have a way with words! Talkin the Doc into coming home! You are so lucky to be alive. I too won't hurry to Logan anymore or try to hurry and pass all the slowpokes. Sorry I couldn't come with Jeff on Friday. He said you were looking good and in a good mood. He even brought me flowers home, I guess seeing you made it a reality. Things can happen, we are human and so fragile. You have a lot of people who love you and care about you, so take your time healing. Your paint, trees, awesome walkway and pond can wait. I'll be keeping an eye on you...I have spys watching you too....does that scare you???Huh??? It should......LOVE YA!
ReplyDeletePS Degan has drawn, painted, and colored many pictures for you...we haven't told him what happened though, we don't want to open that can of worms....TAKE CARE Shawn Croney! Tell Kels we love her and you are so freakin lucky to have that girl!
Welcome Home Shawn!!!

ReplyDeleteShawn, this is "MA Shirley". Kerry and I just wanted you to know that you have been in our thoughts and prayers. Glad you are home. Everyone here at the Bear River Clinic sends their get well wishes.
ReplyDeleteShawn, I am so glad that you are home and doing well. I was one of the first at the scene and was the one who helped stabalize your neck and talk to you until the EMT's arrived. I am a nurse and was very surprised that you were doing as well as you were considering the condition of the van. You showed your sense of humor even while still trapped in the car. I'm sorry that I was not able to give you your one request, which was to let you out to walk around for a minute!!! I was also the person who talked to your brother in law on the phone when he called. I know that you were not texting or talking on the phone, because you had to dig it out of your pocket for me to answer it. Tell your darling wife Kelsey thanks for keeping me updated, and for letting me know about this blog. My prayers are with you and the driver of the semi. Sincerely, Diane Crossley
